Robotics and Welding Department

Robotics and Welding Department was founded in 1990, when the members of the Welding Technology and Equipment Department decided to adapt to the industrial national/regional development and European Union Consultative Committee for Industrial Development requirements, by promoting under-graduate vocational training in robotics and mechatronics.

The training program implementation for the Robotics specialization development, integrating the informatics and electronics in welding equipment/robots achievement, was identified as being one of the premises of the welding engineering evolution.

Since 1998, by introducing the Mechatronics specialization the students' training offer was extended, according to the information society concept, with its trends in intelligent mechanics systems development.

Presently, according to the Bologna Process, the Robotics and Welding Department members ensure the students' training in Engineering Sciences, specializations:

  • Welding Engineering - Industrial Engineering area, oriented to the welding processes study, welding equipment and technology design;

  • Robotics - Mechatronics and Robotics area, envisaging the study of the industrial processes robotizing by implementing the artificial intelligence to the equipment guidance;

  • Mechatronics - Mechatronics and Robotics area, a new concept, which connect the mechanics with the electronics and the applied informatics, for high performance industrial and domestic apparatus producing;

  • Welding Processes Robotization - Industrial Engineering area, post-graduate programme.

The academic staff eagerness for the vocational training programs continuous up-dating and the Robotics and Welding Department infrastructure improvement changed the students' training options. Beside the basic training offer, specialized programs for computers usage and programming are addressed to the students, according to their basic specialization.

Moreover, according to their scholar performances, different fellowships can be granted to the students: didactic and scientific fellowships, social fellowships, Socrates-Erasmus fellowships, universities bilateral agreements fellowships etc.

Different master and doctoral programs in Industrial Engineering are offered, at post-university level training, within the Robotics and Welding Department.
